Billy Billingham, Call to Kill

Another one from the SAS boys and actually this one wasn’t bad.

I got this one fabulously cheap, about $15 from memory. Which was a fluke as it was a new release at the time, pre cost of living crisis and all. I’ll take it!

Features Matt ‘Mace’ Mason, a pleasingly predictable SAS character as he goes about doing all sorts of clandestine operations to prevent a disaster That will trigger a war.

Mace is typically wary of authority, slightly jaded, but also proud to serve his country. All the things you expect and want in a military character if you ask me. What I like is the story mostly focuses on getting on with it, rather than trying to be a deep character study. Billy knows what he’s good at – talking about action and guns – and doesn’t waste too much page space talking about feelings.

There’s a sequel, which I haven’t actually got around to yet. But it’s on the list.

Recommend. 👍🏻
