Book 6 in the Orphan X series sees Evan, an orphaned government assassin, not so orphaned after all. And he has a brother.
Which was all a bit kitsch for me. Characters from Evan’s past depicted in former entries in the series conveniently reprise themselves to be more connected than previously known. Was this planned from he beginning, or an afterthought? Does it matter? Is it effective?
I also wasn’t totally sold on Evan’s mother character. But hey, this isn’t gunning for a Booker – probably sells more copies than a Booker winner. More of a character development focus this time as Evan tries unsuccessfully to sidestep romantic interests, while more details about his formative years before entering the Orphan Program are revealed.
Recommend. 👍🏻
