Book #7 in the Orphan X series, it was actually Dark Horse that set me on my journey with Evan Smoak. I walked into a bricks and mortar store, judged the book by its cover and never looked back. (Shock! Now you know I don’t necessarily write these posts in my order of reading!)
Dark Horse takes on, unbeknownst to me at the time of reading, a fresh narrative arc where Evan receives a call to help a drug lord rescue his daughter from a rival drug lord. Evan wrestles with inner his conflict over the situation and, well, read for yourself.
Features some of Orphan X’s most grisly kills, which is mostly what I remember and had me bulk ordering the rest of the series. Maybe I need my head checked.
Recommend. 👍🏻
